Summer is great for outdoor plans, travel, beach days, cookouts, and long sunny afternoons.
For bald people, it also comes with one extra responsibility: scalp care.
During summer, bald heads are more likely to deal with sunburn, dryness, sweat buildup, excess shine, razor irritation, flaking, and heat discomfort.
Before going outdoors, apply a suitable broad-spectrum sunscreen to your scalp and reapply as directed. For longer outdoor exposure, add a hat or cap.
Heat and sweat can quickly build up on a bald head. Wash or rinse your scalp regularly to remove sweat, oil, dust, and product buildup.
Use a lightweight moisturizer. Apply a small amount first. During hot weather, lighter layers work better for daytime.
Cleanse regularly, use lighter products during the day, blot excess shine instead of rubbing, and wash caps and hats often.
Shave after softening the skin, use a proper shaving cream, avoid direct sun immediately after shaving where possible.
When irritation happens, simplify your routine. Use gentle products and give your scalp time to calm down.
Morning: Cleanse, apply lightweight moisturizer, apply sunscreen, wear a hat for long outdoor exposure.
After Sweating: Rinse, pat dry, reapply moisturizer and sunscreen if still outdoors.
Night: Cleanse away sweat and buildup, apply moisturizer or oil, let the scalp recover overnight.
Stay protected. Stay polished.
